Review: 19-06-2017

Account Value: 1.88.

PnL: +0.29.

Was pretty surprised at how much pnl I had. Sort of felt like I was just grinding and not making a whole lot of money - without the review I would have been getting frustrated.

PnL:
ANS: +0.17BTC. Interesting that this is bigger than I thought it would be. Never really made too many big (sized) trades on this.
DCR: +0.01BTC. Just a wee scalp that gave me a bit of trouble so ditched.
DRACO: +0.01BTC. Volume not really there so this was about as big as I could do it.
ENRG: +0.02BTC. Kept a little bit of this because I think it could 100% in the next few days. Soo illiquid though and the big mistake of the day going too big on this.
PTOY: +0.045BTC.
SC: +0.02BTC. Would like to keep this one but for now just scalping dips.
1ST: Not counting because still in a rather big btfd trade.

So overall really good day. There were some very scalable moments, but unfortunately never really nailed a big 10%+ type trade (that's why was surprised to see the pnl). ANS, PTOY, and 1ST all have pretty big volume So that's pretty exciting going forward.

ANS: Was definitely a bit late to this because I thought it looked like trash. The big one I nailed on this was the breakout, and got a couple of small scalp into washes (but never really nailed a big one).






















1ST: Unfortunately I had a position that I ditched into 7.00 before the push to 9. Some good opportunities, but no monster washes to really size into.




















DCR: Got the wash after the 18 push but wasn't picky on exit as I thought it had moved too much for a "real" coin. Turned out to be the right call.





















DRACO: Very illiquid, but a textbook wash.





















ENRG: Some prick front run my order at 331 on that wash.. So I was scooping every offer sub 350. But definitely too illiquid for me, and could have been nasty if it went wrong.




















PTOY: New listing on this exchange, I believe it has been traded on other exchanges though. Big miss for the day as I started scalping it around 12ish. There definitely was an option to hold some when it got above that tight consolidation around 15.





















SC: Just a very simple scalp around that 6 wash. Didn't quite get a good enough entry and narrowly missed add sub 6 so just ditched it when I could.

Strategy So Far + Results

Thus far I haven't really nailed any big directional moves. Although I have had the right read on a couple, and a couple I have had amazing washout entries. Only to sell a pop for 10-20% then have the coin rally 100%+. However this is fine. Capturing 4 trades with 10% return (each) on entire account is equivalent to capturing 2 directional trades for 50% moves, on 50% risk. Probably similar risk-reward as well, and definitely higher probability of success on the day-trade. Thus far my break and butter trade has been identifying a stock that is up massively, and getting a liquidity providing entry on a flush, and then selling the pop. Most of the time the coin has peaked for the medium term but the size of the flushes are enormous. They generally flush to around the spot where the trend had accelerated. Account Value:  2.74BTC PnL:  +0.14BTC Missed quite a few opportunities today because I was holding PKB. Definitely a good lesson there - this is especially the case while I'm still small enough that I can execute on these "grinder" type plays. However, I am quite happy with how I ended up closing out the PKB trade. Took a couple of trades today but because of aforementioned problem with PKB didn't have much size on them anyway. In terms of pnl: - Lost a little bit from PKB. ZEC trend trade paid out roughly 0.12BTC. - Made about 0.04BTC from SWFT and QRL (these the ones I would have crushed if it weren't for PKB). - About 0.01BTC from DGB (but this was a scalable trade so it's okay). All-in-all I think I could have easily pulled in around 0.3BTC ++ (maybe even up to 1BTC depending on fills) but am happy with the lessons I learned. Scalping the First Wash on Big Percentage Gainer

Should note the similarities here compared to scalping against the trend. Also note that this isn't the best example, but one of few I have on hand. Note that this can be a great way to recycle some of position if expect it to go onto new highs. But the actual high probability setup is to sell all into pop. Very important to remember that you are better off catching 5 of these (with near 100% probability), then trying to catch a big 50-100% move. The only time I have ever messed up this setup is when I got fomo near the top and bought a little bit there (and even then I have managed to bring the entire trade to scratch). The way I like to think of this trade is that the big percentage gainers go up on "air", and the moment a big seller hits it collapses, before buyers resume.
